THE IDEA

You can save a restaurant recommendation by texting its link or a readable screenshot to Ruminate. For screenshot text extraction, include #capture. Later, search the app for details in the saved entry, such as the restaurant name or neighborhood, and open the source to check current information.

Keep the restaurant name, not just the food photo

An appealing patio or a plate of pasta can prompt an Instagram save. Weeks later, the detail you remember may be “that courtyard in Old Town,” while the restaurant name has disappeared from memory.

Capture the post’s identifying information while you have it. A screenshot should show the restaurant name and useful caption text. If the image only shows the food, add the name in your message or save a source link that identifies the place.

Send the recommendation through Messages

Copy the restaurant or social-post link into a message to Ruminate. For a screenshot, attach the image and use #capture on a supported plan. Link extraction depends on whether the source content is accessible.

Add the part the post cannot know: why you wanted to go. “Old Town patio dinner” or “anniversary possibility” can make a recommendation easier to recognize later. These are personal retrieval clues, not a requirement to build a folder system.

TRY A MESSAGE LIKE THIS
#capture Old Town patio dinner — the restaurant with the courtyard.

Find it when you are choosing dinner

Open Ruminate and search for the restaurant name, Old Town, or patio if those words are in the saved information. Open the matching entry to revisit the recommendation.

If a result is missing, try a more specific word and inspect whether the image or link supplied readable text. Extraction cannot reliably identify an unnamed location from its appearance alone.

Check the restaurant before making plans

A saved recommendation records what caught your attention. It is not a live reservation service. Open the restaurant’s current website or booking page to verify hours, menus, availability, and whether the patio is operating.

Keeping the original link alongside your reason for saving makes that next step easier. You can use the same approach for recommendations from a friend or a restaurant website, rather than limiting the collection to one social platform.

Does saving a link preserve every part of the post?

No. Social posts can change, become private, or disappear, and extraction depends on accessible content. When a specific written detail matters, capture it in a readable screenshot or include it in your note.

Try saving one place you actually want to visit. Search for it before the next dinner decision so you know which saved terms bring it back.

Keep the next thing worth remembering.
