Ruminate supports exporting saved information so you can use it beyond the app. Find the material you need, review its contents, use the available export option, and check the resulting file in your destination application. Receipt data is particularly useful when the next step involves a spreadsheet.
Start with the task the information needs to serve
Saving information is often only the first step. A receipt may belong in an expense spreadsheet, a client recap may inform a follow-up document, and a set of recommendations may help you make a plan.
Decide what you need to carry forward before exporting. Search Ruminate for the relevant entry or project and inspect the saved information. Exporting a result does not remove the need to verify it.
Review the saved information before exporting
For a receipt, compare extracted amounts and dates with the original photo. For a voice note, check important names or commitments against the recording. For a screenshot, confirm that the needed text was actually captured.
This review is especially useful before information moves into another system where its original context may be less obvious. Retain a source reference when it matters to your next task.
Export and open the result
Use the export option available for the saved information in Ruminate, then open the resulting file in an application that supports that format. Check what the export contains instead of assuming that every attachment or piece of metadata is included.
For receipt data, inspect the columns and imported values in your spreadsheet before using formulas or totals. If the destination application needs an import step, review its settings for dates, numbers, and text.
Adapt the information to your workflow
Once receipt data is in a spreadsheet, you can add your own project labels, sort entries, or combine it with other expense information. Those changes happen in the destination application; they are not an automatic connection to that application.
For other saved information, choose the export and sharing options that suit your next task. The benefit is being able to carry useful material forward instead of repeatedly recapturing it from screenshots or messages.
Is export the same as a complete backup?
Not necessarily. An export should be checked for the content you need, including whether original media is present. This guide does not assume that every export is a complete account archive or can be imported back into Ruminate.
For your first test, use a non-sensitive receipt. Export the data, open it, and confirm that the values you need are usable. Keep that example as a model for your own workflow and repeat the check when your export needs change.
Keep the next thing worth remembering.
